So I am sitting here researching steampunk and Alice in Wonderland for a necklace for my little sister for her birthday. This was by her request, mind you. Well upon looking up the definition for "steampunk", strickly to make sure my memory serves me right, I find two authors names among the vast definition, H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. Now, these names ring a bell, of course, but seeing as I read mostly science fiction/fantasy/romance/mystery types of books, and I was not much the adventurer when I was younger, they only make the bell make a small "ting" noise. So I go from wikipedia to bn.com and search the others, and what do I find? War of the Worlds and 20000 Leagues Under the Sea. Well, no shit, you say, eh? Okay, so I may not have been an adventurer in my youth, but now, here in the later years of that very youth, I ache to find adventure. Well bn.com is very nice in giving me hope of finding said adventure with their "free e-book." But here comes the downfall of this story. I have always been a reader. I love reading, I have more books than anything else I own. My library is comparable to my husbands DVD collection, even more so! I love the smell of new books, old books, used books. I have been caught more than once sniffing a brand new book, fresh off the shelf. (My husband makes fun of me for this...) and what very thought do I have while looking at these "free e-books"? "Well, maybe Eric's right, we should get a nook." And I practically have a heart attack! A nook? A freaking nook? Alas, I sit here trying very hard not to slap myself in the forehead for that single, irrevocable, horrible thought! But, maybe my husband is right, we should invest in one. Maybe ... we'll see ... Oh, the misery ...
